What to expect

It’s best to book in around your 30 weeks and when baby arrives you can let me know so we set on a date when baby is between 2-3 weeks old for the session.

Sessions take place within the first 2–3 weeks after birth, when babies are still very sleepy and love to curl up naturally. You can sit back and relax while I gently guide the flow of the shoot, taking breaks for feeding or cuddles whenever needed.
The studio is kept warm, calm, and baby-friendly with changing table, with everything ready for a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Pre-Session

When is the best age for a newborn session?

The best time for a newborn photoshoot is within the first 2–3 weeks after birth. During this time, babies are sleepier and curl up naturally, allowing for those beautifully peaceful and timeless images. However, if your baby is slightly older, we can still capture gorgeous awake and snuggly moments.

How far in advance should I book?

It’s best to book around 30 weeks during your pregnacy to secure your spot. I’ll reserve a flexible window around your expected delivery, and once baby arrives, we’ll confirm the exact session date together. Last-minute bookings are sometimes possible depending on availability.

Where are newborn sessions held?

All newborn sessions take place in my cosy home studio in Rugby, Warwickshire. The space is warm, calm, and baby-led — designed to make you and your little one feel completely relaxed throughout the session.

What should my baby wear?

You don’t need to bring much — I have a curated selection of soft wraps, neutral blankets, and baby outfits designed for newborn photography. If you’d like, you can also bring something sentimental, such as a family blanket or keepsake to personalise your session.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Yes — family portraits are always included. I’ll capture gentle, natural interactions between you and your baby, along with sibling cuddles and individual newborn shots. These family images often become the most cherished ones from the session.

During the Session

How long does a newborn session take?

Newborn sessions typically last around 2–3 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, and comforting between poses. I always go at your baby’s pace, ensuring the experience is calm and enjoyable for everyone.

What is your photography style?

My newborn photography style is natural, timeless, and baby-led. I focus on connection and simplicity — soft light, muted tones, and minimal props — to highlight your baby’s natural beauty and your family’s bond.

What if my baby is unsettled on the day?

Completely fine — newborn sessions are fully baby-led. We take breaks whenever needed for feeding or cuddles, and I adjust posing and flow to your baby’s comfort. My studio is warm and quiet to help them feel safe and relaxed.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

Just bring the essentials — nappies, milk or bottles, and a change of clothes. Everything else, including changing table, outfits, and props, is provided in the studio. If there’s something meaningful you’d like to include, feel free to bring it along.

Can we include different setups or outfits?

Yes — we usually include 2–3 styling setups within your session. This may include baby-only images, family portraits, and detail shots. Outfit and wrap changes are kept simple so baby remains comfortable and undisturbed.

After the Session

When will we receive our newborn photos?

Your online proofing gallery will be ready within 2–3 weeks. Once you’ve chosen your favourites, your final edited images will be delivered shortly after — ready for printing and sharing with family.

How many photos are included?

Your chosen package determines the number of images. The Digital Memories package includes 20 hand-edited digital images, while the Treasured Collection includes 20 digitals + 20 matching prints and the full first-stage gallery (minimum 100 images) as a download.

Can we purchase extra images or wall art?

Absolutely — you can add extra digitals for £15 each or printed images for £20 each. The Treasured Collection also includes a 20x20” framed wall art piece — a stunning way to display your newborn portraits.

How are the images delivered?

Images are delivered via a private online gallery for you to view and download in high-resolution. Printed products and wall art are packaged with care and can be collected or posted to your home.

Do you keep a backup of our photos?

I recommend downloading and securely backing up your photos once they’re delivered. I keep backups for a limited time, but having your own saved copies ensures your memories are protected long term.
