2. Baby on their back, looking up
One of my go-to shots is baby lying on their back, gazing up with wonder – often during a nappy change! I love using a baby mobile to gently guide their eyes toward the light, making the moment both playful and beautifully lit. It’s a simple setup that creates the most heart-melting expressions.
4. Sleepy snuggles on mum or dad’s shoulder
As baby starts to wind down toward the end of the session, I love capturing those calm, dreamy moments while they rest on a parent’s shoulder. I use gentle white noise or a baby shusher to help soothe them, and I position them to naturally turn toward the light. It’s a peaceful way to end the shoot and always a favourite with parents.
5. The magical eyelash shot
This one’s a personal favourite – there’s something so delicate and timeless about capturing baby’s eyelashes. I use my 50mm lens (no need for a macro!) and encourage baby to look down using a small toy. Wooden blocks are perfect – just tricky enough to keep their attention a little longer, giving me the chance to get that perfect downward gaze.
